ASOP Executive Committee Review & Selection Process for DBHSG Candidates
Purpose
To ensure a transparent, strategic, and mission-aligned process for selecting qualified and diverse candidates to serve on the Digital Bone Health Study Group (DBHSG), the ASOP Executive Committee will follow the review framework outlined below. The process is designed to identify individuals with the expertise, experience, and collaborative mindset needed to advance the mission of ASOP through the DBHSG.
1. Candidate Nomination & Application
Open Call or Direct Outreach: Candidates may be identified through an open call for applications, direct outreach, or referral by current ASOP or DBHSG members.
Application Materials: All candidates must submit:
A current CV or resume
A brief statement of interest (max 1 page) outlining their expertise and motivation to serve
Any relevant publications, projects, or initiatives related to digital health, AI, or bone health
2. Initial Screening (Led by DBHSG Chairperson & Executive Director)
Ensure the candidate meets baseline qualifications for the designated role (e.g., clinical, regulatory, reimbursement, industry, ethics, etc.).
Evaluate the relevance of the candidate’s background to DBHSG’s core mission and key focus areas.
Confirm no conflicts of interest that would interfere with impartial advisory participation.
Present a summary of qualified applicants to the ASOP Executive Committee for formal review.
3. ASOP Executive Committee Review
The Executive Committee will conduct an evaluation using the following criteria:
Selection Criteria
Subject Matter Expertise: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the candidate’s relevant area (e.g., AI, digital health, bone health, ethics, policy, commercialization).
Strategic Alignment: Alignment with ASOP’s mission to advance excellence and innovation in osteoporosis care.
Collaborative Orientation: Willingness to work constructively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Innovation & Vision: Evidence of forward-thinking contributions or perspectives on digital transformation in healthcare.
Diversity & Representation: Consideration of professional, experiential, and demographic diversity to ensure inclusive perspectives.
Each member of the Executive Committee will score candidates on a standardized rubric and may recommend:
Approval for Appointment
Hold for Additional Information/Discussion
Not Recommended at This Time
4. Final Selection & Appointment
The Executive Committee will meet to discuss top candidates and vote on appointments.
Selected individuals will be formally invited to join the DBHSG, with roles and expectations outlined in an appointment letter.
Unselected applicants may be considered for future opportunities or invited to contribute in other ways (e.g., workgroups, advisory input).
5. Term & Evaluation
Appointments will be for an initial 2-year term, renewable upon review.
Member contributions will be reviewed annually by the DBHSG Chair and shared with the Executive Committee to assess ongoing engagement and effectiveness.
